The 11th of Lauren

How can it be the 11th of Lauren, already? Birthday month is here!

Flashback: When my parents took me home from the hospital. They brought a fire truck, balloon, and a  baby.  That is the order of preference that my brother welcomed the gifts…

Despite early hesitation, my brother became one of my biggest fans.

Despite early hesitation about his little sister arriving on the scene, my brother  has become one of my biggest fans. I constantly make him laugh. I’m glad I can help, Bro.

Imagine having a month dedicated just to you. Our expectations are way too low. This one day nonsense for your birthday isn’t enough. Each year we have more things we want to do and run out of time. So it only makes sense that this homage to ourselves get expanded. In my case, the month formerly known as May is Lauren. Today is Lauren the 11th.

The Month of Lauren

Each year we have more things we want to do and run out of time.  So it only makes sense that this homage to ourselves get expanded.  In my case, the month formerly known as May is Lauren.  Today is Lauren the 5th.

I actually explained this concept to my lifelong friend’s 12-year-old son in March. He embraced it and to this day reminds his dad that  we have now entered the Month of Lauren. That’s a sweet kid.

Guacamole Bliss

My birthday is coming up and it made me think of many people who take that day off like it’s a national holiday, or something. Well, it is, in a way, so I kind of understand it but it is fun to see if people remember your special day.

Years ago, I was working at a bank as a teller and was going through my huge Elvis infatuation phase and started an Elvis collection. Celebrating birthdays was complicated because you only had a couple of breaks and a short break for lunch and everything was staggered.

At that time, I had brought my Elvis cook book into work and noticed that a co-worker had taken it from me to borrow.  Bill was a big practical jokester. One can only imagine what we was doing to my coveted collectible. Was he putting his face on all of the Elvis photos?!
